Yanggao County

    Yanggao county is located in cross point of Shanxi province, Henei province and Inner Mongolia and lies at 113o 28’---114o 6’ east longitude and 39o41’---40o31’ north latitude, with an area of 1668 square km, it has 12 towns, 256 villages, with a population of 288 thousand, of which, there is 246 thousand farmers. In 1994, it was listed in one of 34 national poverty counties. In 1991 it was confirmed as the key poverty help county in China. The plowland area is 880 thousand mu, of which irrigable land is 360 thousand mu. There are five kinds of terrains, plain, upland, bottomland, mountain and valley. The highest altitude is 2420.5 meter, the lowest altitude is 980 meter.
